A Clockify alternative for freelancers and teams who bill by the hour

Clockaroo is time tracking and invoicing for freelancers and small teams who bill by the hour. Below is a side-by-side comparison with Clockify, including the things Clockify has and we don't. Clockify facts as of October 2026, from Clockify's own pricing and help pages.

We make Clockaroo and are not affiliated with Clockify. Clockify is a trademark of its owner, and we name it only to compare.

Who switches, and why

In April 2026 Clockify limited its Free plan to 5 users and moved six features to its paid plans, among them billable hours and CSV and Excel report exports. Invoicing in Clockify starts with the Standard plan, and project budgets with Pro. If you work alone and send a few invoices a month, or you bill clients in Germany who expect an XRechnung or ZUGFeRD file, those are the places where Clockaroo works differently.

What Clockify does that we don't

Clockify does more. It has time off, team scheduling, GPS tracking, screenshots and a kiosk for clocking in, plus desktop and mobile apps and more than 100 integrations. Its rates go down to the task, its Free plan takes up to 5 users, it can send invoices over Peppol with a paid add-on, and on Pro and Enterprise you can choose where your data is stored.

Clockaroo also has limits of its own: invoicing works for businesses based in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States. Elsewhere you can track time and export your hours for now.

What Clockaroo does

Switching from Clockify

Export the detailed report from Clockify as CSV and upload it in Clockaroo: your clients, projects and hours come over, and you check everything before anything is imported. Clockify's CSV and Excel exports need a paid plan; on Free you can export PDF reports one month at a time, which can't be imported. Then add your rates, and from then on your invoices come from the hours you track here.
