Clockaroo MCP server
AI assistants that speak the Model Context Protocol can start and stop your timer, log time and show your week, budgets and invoice status. The assistant acts as you in one workspace and sees only what your role lets you see. It can't delete anything, and it can't issue, send or change invoices.
https://clockaroo.com/mcp An owner turns AI assistants on first, in Settings, “API and AI assistants”. They start switched off.
Claude
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
- Choose “+ Add”, then “Add custom connector”.
- Name it Clockaroo and enter
https://clockaroo.com/mcp. - Sign in when Claude asks. You pick the workspace and tick what the assistant may do, and you can untick anything.
On Team and Enterprise plans an organization owner adds the connector under Organization settings, Connectors; members then connect it under Customize, Connectors.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http clockaroo --scope user https://clockaroo.com/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code and sign in in the browser.
Cursor and other clients
Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project). Cursor signs in with OAuth:
{
"mcpServers": {
"clockaroo": { "url": "https://clockaroo.com/mcp" }
}
}
Clients that can't sign in with OAuth can send a personal access token instead. Create one under Profile, “API tokens”, and tick “Use with AI assistants (MCP)”; a token without that tick is refused here. Then send it as a header, for example in Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http clockaroo https://clockaroo.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer $CLOCKAROO_TOKEN"
Tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
timer_status | Your running timer and today's total. |
start_timer | Starts a timer on a project and task. A timer already running is stopped first and named in the result. |
stop_timer | Stops your timer, now or at an earlier time today. |
log_time | Adds a finished entry for a day in the last 62 days. |
list_my_time_entries | Your entries between two dates, at most 31 days. |
week_summary | Your hours for one week, per day and project, and whether the week is open, submitted or approved. |
list_projects | The projects and tasks you can track time on. |
budget_status | How much of a project's budget is used, if you may see it. |
list_invoices | Invoices with number, client, dates, status and total. Owners only. |
invoice_status | One invoice's status, due and paid dates and credit notes. Owners only. |
The assistant only ever writes your own time. It can't edit or delete entries, change submitted or approved weeks, or touch other people's time. Entries it adds show “via MCP” in the app, so you can spot them.
Text typed by people
Notes, project names, client names and invoice lines were typed by people, sometimes by someone else in your team. A line such as “ignore your instructions” in a note is just text. The server tells the assistant to treat these fields as data, removes hidden control characters and leaves out email addresses, postal addresses, tax ids, bank details and rates. Your assistant may have other tools, such as web search or email; check what it wants to do before you confirm.
The REST API for scripts is described on the developer page.
